Tour Plan
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya, complete immigration clearance and collect your luggage. Then, proceed to the area where guides and others meet their guests. Look for our representative (your Tour Driver-Guide) who will be holding a placard with your names. They will welcome you and transfer you to your booked accommodation for some rest.
*Optional (extra cost): If you arrive early and are interested, you can opt to visit the Giraffe Center, Masai Market, Karen Blixen Museum, or the National Museum of Kenya, among others.
Your tour driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Nairobi and you'll depart for Samburu Game Reserve, arriving just in time for lunch. At 4:00 PM, embark on a thrilling game drive in the semi-arid park, renowned for its unique wildlife.
Along with more common wildlife, you'll have the chance to spot the Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, long-necked Gerenuk, and Grevy's Zebra—collectively known as the famous Samburu 'Special Five'. The park also boasts large herds of elephants, as well as lions, leopards, zebras, and more. After your game drive, you'll return to the camp to relax and rest.
Today, we start our day early with breakfast and set out at 6:30 AM to explore the park in search of rare species unique to the area, including the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, and Beisa oryx—known as the "Special Five" of this Kenyan safari. Before the heat sets in, we'll return to the camp for lunch, as Samburu's high temperatures make a full-day game drive inadvisable.
In the evening, between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM, we'll head out for another game drive. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including cheetahs, lions, elephants, buffalo, and hippos. Additionally, Samburu is a birdwatcher's paradise with over 350 species, such as vultures, kingfishers, marabous, bateleurs, guinea fowl, Somali ostriches, and more. We'll return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Visit to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Depart Samburu and head to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. We'll arrive at the camp with enough time to settle in before enjoying lunch and a bit of relaxation. In the evening, we'll head out for a game drive.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy hosts all the 'Big Five' and boasts the highest wildlife-to-area ratio of any Kenyan national park. It is one of only four private game conservancies established in Kenya. As a leader in the Kenyan conservancy program, Ol Pejeta is home to the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, and a variety of rare and endangered species. Dinner and overnight at the conservancy.
*Optional: If interested, a night game drive can be arranged at an additional cost.
After breakfast, we will depart from Ol Pejeta and head to Lake Nakuru National Park. This park provides a rare opportunity to experience Kenya's diverse flora, fauna, and wildlife, and is renowned for its vast flocks of pink flamingos. The sight of these birds congregating on Lake Nakuru, one of the Rift Valley soda lakes that covers almost a third of the park, is truly spectacular.
With over 450 species of birds recorded and a rich diversity of wildlife, Lake Nakuru is a special highlight of this Kenyan safari. You may encounter lions, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, pythons, and white rhinos among other animals. The landscapes range from expansive grasslands near the lake to rocky cliffs and woodlands. The park also protects Africa's largest euphorbia candelabrum forest. After a fulfilling day, we will return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Start your day early with breakfast, check out, and depart from Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara Game Reserve. You will arrive at the camp with enough time to settle in before lunch and have some relaxation time before heading out for an evening game drive from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
Masai Mara is one of Africa's lushest reserves and is globally renowned for the Great Migration, where thousands of wildebeest, zebra, and Thomson's gazelle travel to and from the Serengeti from late July through October. In the Mara River, you will find hippos and crocodiles lurking, awaiting their unsuspecting prey.
Start your day early with breakfast and headout for an exhilarating game-drive in the rugged landscapes of the Mara.
Masai Mara Game Reserve is renowned for its excellent predator sightings, thanks to its large populations of lions, cheetahs, and leopards. We also expect to see a variety of other animals, including elephants, Masai giraffes, common zebras, impalas, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles, topis, hartebeests, black-backed jackals, spotted hyenas, and more. After a thrilling day, return to the safari camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
After a leisurely breakfast, depart the camp for Nairobi. You'll have lunch along the way, arriving in Nairobi in the afternoon. You will be dropped off at your Nairobi hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight back home, marking the end of your safari experience.
This safari in Kenya has concluded. Thank you for traveling with Raja Safari Holidays.
*Optional: At an additional cost for park entry, you may choose to have another morning game drive in the reserve before heading to Nairobi. You may also opt for a Masai village visit at USD 20 per person.
