Tour Plan

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by a professional English-speaking tour driver-guide from Raja Safari Holidays. They will receive and escort you to your booked accommodation, where you can check in and unwind, recovering from your journey and adjusting to the local time.  If you arrive early and are eager for some activity, consider an optional excursion (at an extra cost) to either: a) Entebbe Botanical Gardens, home to a variety of primates and birds, or b) Mabamba wetland, in search of the elusive shoebill stork. Alternatively, simply relax and enjoy your rest.
Get ready for our first Big 5 encounter on this Uganda wildlife safari! We'll start with breakfast, then head to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a remarkable conservation success story that has helped revive Uganda's rhino population. Thanks to this effort, visitors can now experience the thrill of meeting these incredible creatures up close.  At Zziwa, we'll embark on an exciting hour-long rhino tracking adventure on foot. Afterward, we'll drive to Masindi for a lunch break, and then continue our journey to Murchison Falls National Park, where we'll spend the night at our booked accommodation. You have the option to enjoy a game drive before checking in, or head straight to the accommodation to relax.
Today, on this Uganda safari, you'll have a thrilling full-day game viewing experience in Murchison Falls National Park! The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including buffaloes, Jackson hartebeests, elephants, lions, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, and many more. These incredible creatures roam freely across the Savannah grasslands, making for an unforgettable game drive experience.  To make the most of our time, we can enjoy a hot lunch at Red Chilli, avoiding the long drive back to the lodge. After lunch, we'll embark on the second leg of our game viewing adventure.  After a fulfilling day of wildlife encounters, we'll return to the lodge to freshen up, relax, and await dinner and our overnight stay.  Optional (additional cost $30 per person): Consider an 11am boat trip upstream towards the falls, offering stunning views and the opportunity to hike (extra $15 per person) to the top of the falls. Along the banks, keep an eye out for hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species.
On Day 4 of this Uganda safari, we'll venture to the edge of Kibale Forest. After breakfast, we'll drive to the top of Murchison Falls, where we'll marvel at the breathtaking beauty and majesty of the falls. From this stunning vantage point, we'll embark on a scenic transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, where we'll spend the night. The drive is long, but incredibly picturesque, passing through charming villages, lush green landscapes, and rolling hills dotted with tea plantations. The scenery is simply breathtaking and will keep you enthralled throughout the journey.  Upon arrival at our accommodation, we'll check in and unwind.  Optional (additional cost): If you're interested, consider an excursion to explore the crater lakes, where you'll discover the beauty of numerous small lakes nestled among gentle hills, offering stunning views all around. Alternatively, simply relax and enjoy the facilities at your leisure.
Today, we will venture into the vibrant Bigodi wetlands, renowned for its incredible biodiversity. This ecological hotspot is home to various primates, including black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and baboons.  Additionally, Bigodi is a birdwatcher's paradise, offering a chance to spot numerous bird species. Optional (additional cost $230 per person): If you're interested, consider chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest instead of the Bigodi wetlands excursion. Please note that chimpanzee tracking permits must be secured in advance.  After exploring Bigodi (or Kibale Forest), we'll embark on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, approximately a 2-hour drive. Upon arrival, we'll have time for an exciting game drive, where we'll search for lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and more.
Rise early and enjoy breakfast before embarking on a thrilling morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Keep on the lookout for cape buffalos, elephant herds, lions, and elusive leopards, among others.  After an exciting morning, return to your accommodation for a relaxing break and lunch. Later, experience the highlight of your Uganda safari - a 2-hour boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, connecting Lakes George and Edward. Be mesmerised by the sight of giant hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and other wildlife, as well as a variety of birds along the water's edge.  After the boat trip, you have the flexibility to either return to the lodge for some rest or head out on a brief late afternoon game drive before returning to the lodge.
If nature cooperates, today's adventure on this Uganda safari promises a rare and thrilling sighting! After breakfast, we'll travel to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions.  With a 60-70% success rate, we'll search for these elusive lions, though they may be challenging to spot when hunting in the grasslands. If we're lucky, we'll spot them lounging in the trees, a truly magnificent sight.  From Ishasha, we'll embark on the final leg of our journey to the edge of Bwindi National Park, where our accommodation awaits. Upon arrival at the lodge, you have the option to unwind and relax or (at an extra cost) opt for a late afternoon-to-evening cultural encounter with the local community. This enriching experience includes traditional dances, hands-on participation in activities like traditional cooking, weaving, and more, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture and engage with the community.
Delve into the depths of Bwindi Forest on this Uganda safari.  After breakfast, we'll embark on a forest walk along the waterfall trail, a perfect way to experience the beauty and complexity of this 'impenetrable' forest. Starting from Buhoma, at the north gate, we'll follow the Munyaga river trail to stunning pristine waterfalls, a truly rewarding experience. Along the way, we'll encounter flora and fauna, black and white colobus monkeys, at times blue monkeys, among others.  After the walk, we'll return to our accommodation, check out, and transfer to the Ruhija sector of Bwindi, where we'll prepare for tomorrow's thrilling gorilla trekking adventure. With a challenging day ahead, we recommend taking this afternoon to relax and unwind.
The long awaited day on this Uganda safari is finally here!  After breakfast, we'll head to the rangers' post for a comprehensive briefing from a ranger-guide on the essential guidelines for gorilla trekking. Then, we'll venture into the stunning rainforest, immersing ourselves in its breathtaking beauty. The dramatic, steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense, with numerous animal trails that make it accessible to tourists. The trek duration (4-8 hours) and terrain vary depending on the movements of these magnificent primates. Once we locate a gorilla group, we'll spend an unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants. After the trek, we'll return to our accommodation to rest.  Optional (additional cost): If we finish early and you're eager for more adventure, our guide can arrange a local community visit or a short nature walk along one of the forest trails.
Take a breather and unwind on this Uganda wildlife safari! Start your day with breakfast at the lodge, then embark on a scenic drive to Lake Bunyonyi. This stunning lake is nestled among lush, green-terraced hills that rise to an altitude of 2,200-2,478 metres, but its true uniqueness lies in its 29 picturesque islands, each with its own unique shape and size. Enjoy a serene traditional dugout canoe trek on the lake, exploring the major islands and delving into their rich history. Afterward, return to your accommodation to relax and soak up the breathtaking views of Lake Bunyonyi, right at your doorstep.
As we near the end of our Uganda wilflife safari, we'll make a stop at Lake Mburo National Park. Start the day with a leisurely breakfast, then head to Lake Mburo NP, a hidden gem conveniently located near the highway connecting Entebbe/Kampala to western Uganda's parks.  Although it's the smallest savannah National Park in Uganda, Lake Mburo is a treasure trove of biodiversity, hosting numerous bird species and an array of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, and the elusive leopard.   After checking in and taking a brief rest, we'll embark on a late afternoon-to-evening game drive, getting up close and personal with the park's inhabitants. Finally, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.  Optional (additional cost $30 per person): If you're interested, consider a night game drive to encounter nocturnal creatures, a rare and thrilling experience that's different from regular daytime sightings.
Start your day with an early breakfast, then embark on a thrilling park walk in Lake Mburo National Park accomapanied by an armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide.  This guided walk offers a unique opportunity to encounter an array of wildlife at close range, including zebras, giraffes, elands, topi, antelopes, and Cape buffaloes.  After this experience, return to your accommodation for check-out and then head to Entebbe airport for your departure flight (scheduled for 17:30 hrs or later). En route, stop at the iconic Equator crossing mark in Kayabwe, where you can capture memories with a photo opportunity and browse for souvenirs if interested. This marks the conclusion of our Uganda wildlife safari. Thank you for travelling with us on this adventure!
