Tour Plan
Embark on the ultimate Uganda safari, perfectly designed for an unforgettable vacation in Uganda! We recommend arriving before 1:00 pm to ensure a smooth start to your adventure. Upon arrival, proceed through immigration clearance, collect your luggage, and meet your assigned professional English-speaking tour driver-guide outside.Â
They will welcome you and transfer you to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a remarkable conservation success story that has helped save Uganda's near-extinct rhino population. Thanks to this effort, you'll have the thrilling opportunity to encounter rhinos up close. If you arrive early or are picked up from a hotel, consider an optional guided nature walk (at an additional cost). Otherwise, check-in, relax, and enjoy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
On Day 2 of this Uganda safari, we embark on an exciting adventure in search of the elusive shoebill. Rise early and set out at 6:00 am for a thrilling shoebill trek and canoe ride through the picturesque Lugogo swamp. This journey offers a unique opportunity to spot the prehistoric shoebill stork, other bird species, and witness the breathtaking Ugandan sunrise over the swamp.
After this excursion, return for a quick breakfast before proceeding to track the magnificent rhinos. Following the rhino tracking, enjoy a hot lunch in Zziwa, then head to Murchison Falls National Park. This stunning park boasts roaring rapids, rolling plains, and an abundance of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, hartebeest, buffalo, and elephants. Take a detour to visit the top of the falls before heading to your accommodation, where you can relax and unwind after an action-packed day.
Today, get ready for a thrilling game viewing experience in Murchison Falls National Park! The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife species, including buffalos, Jackson hartebeests, elephants, lions, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, and many more. These incredible creatures roam freely across the savannah grasslands, making the park's landscape a game viewer's paradise.Â
To maximise our time, we'll head to Red Chilli for a hot lunch, followed by the second leg of our game drive. After a fulfilling day, we'll return to the lodge to freshen up and relax before dinner and our overnight stay.Â
*Optional activities (at an additional cost) include an 11am boat trip to the bottom of the falls, with the opportunity to hike (extra $25 per person) to the top of the falls, offering a unique perspective on this natural wonder ($30 per person).
After breakfast, we'll embark on a scenic transfer to the edge of Kibale Forest National Park, where we'll spend the night. The drive is long, but the breathtaking views of villages, lush green landscapes, and tea plantations will keep you captivated.Â
Upon arrival, check-in at your accommodation and set out to explore the stunning Kibale crater lakes, culminating in a hike to the "top of the world" for panoramic views. You'll be amazed by the beauty of the numerous small lakes surrounded by gentle hills and the diverse wildlife, including primates and birds, at Lake Nkuruba. Take a leisurely walk through the local villages, interact with the friendly residents, and soak up the picturesque views of the Kibale area. Return to your accommodation for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
On the 5th day of this Uganda safari package, we'll venture into the vibrant Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking. Be on the Lookout for the black & white colobus, red tailed monkey or the grey cheeked mangabey and different bird species.
Following the Kibale Forest experience, we'll embark on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving with time for an afternoon game drive. As we explore the park, keep an eye out for iconic wildlife like lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and many more.
Rise early and fuel up with breakfast before embarking on a thrilling morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Keep on the lookout for an array of wildlife, including Cape buffalos, elephant herds, lions, and leopards (though they can be elusive).Â
After working up an appetite, return to your accommodation for some relaxation time and lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a 2-hour boat trip along the Kazinga Channel, which links Lakes George and Edward.Â
This journey will treat you to breathtaking sights of giant hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and other wildlife, as well as a diverse array of birds along the water's edge. After the boat trip, you have the option to either return to the lodge for some rest or head out on a brief late afternoon game drive before retiring to the lodge.
If nature allows, you will have a rare and thrilling opportunity to spot the elusive tree-climbing lions. After a leisurely breakfast, we'll head to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions.Â
With a 60-70% chance of sighting these creatures, we'll keep our fingers crossed for a picturesque and unforgettable encounter. Please note that spotting them can be challenging, especially when they're hunting in the grasslands.Â
After our Ishasha adventure, we'll continue to our accommodation on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where we'll unwind and prepare for tomorrow's exhilarating gorilla trekking experience. Today's activities will be minimal, allowing us to conserve energy for the thrilling adventure ahead.
The moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived on this Uganda safari! After breakfast, we'll head to the rangers' post for a comprehensive briefing from our ranger-guide on the essential guidelines for trekking.Â
With our minds prepared and our spirits high, we'll venture into the breathtaking Bwindi Forest, a haven of natural beauty. This stunning rainforest boasts a dramatic, steeply forested landscape, teeming with animal trails that allow us to explore its depths.Â
The trek's duration and terrain will depend on the movements of our beloved gorillas. Once we locate a gorilla group, we'll spend an unforgettable hour in their presence, savouring every moment with these gentle giants.
After our forest adventure, we'll return to our vehicle and embark on a transfer to our overnight accommodation near Lake Mburo National Park, conveniently located along the highway connecting Kampala/Entebbe to Western Uganda.
Start your day with a delicious early breakfast, then set out on an exciting morning bush walk in Lake Mburo National Park, accompanied by an experienced and armed Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger-guide. This guided walk offers a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with zebras, giraffes, elands, topi, antelopes, and cape buffaloes.Â
Take a hike up to the hilltops and enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Mburo and its surroundings. From this vantage point, you'll have a stunning panorama of nine of the twelve lakes surrounding the national park. After the walk, return to your accommodation for checkout, then head to Entebbe airport for your departure flight ( scheduled for 17.30 hrs or later). This marks the end of our unforgettable Uganda safari. Thank you for choosing Raja Safari Holidays as your travel companion.
